La storia di Macey Duff, la 19enne che ha deciso di smettere di depilarsi: “accettatevi”

Macey Duff è diventata famosa in ogni parte del mondo, per la sua decisione di smettere di depilarsi. La giovane diciannovenne vive nel Nevada. Stanca di continue cerette e rasoi, ha deciso di voler vivere accettando ciò che la natura le ha dato.

Ha sempre raccontato di come il suo problema di peli eccessivi, l’abbia messa a disagio nella vita. Ha sempre amato danzare, sin dall’età di 10 anni. I suoi peli su braccia e gambe, la facevano vergognare. Il depilarsi, con la crescita, era diventato un’ossessione.

I love you! It can be difficult seeing a womxn with hair when we are forcefully fed UNREALISTIC expectations and standards of how femme appearing bodies must look like in order to be viewed as worthy. I’m a regular human :) But I hope unfeasible perceptions that society is pressuring us to believe starts to fade in our minds. Thank you to everyone who is supportive and loving!! Nel 2016, qualcosa è cambiato nella mente di Macey. Durante una vacanza alle Hawaii, insieme alla sua famiglia, la giovane vide una donna in costume, sulla spiaggia. Mostrava a tutti la sua peluria, senza preoccuparsene. Era come se ne andasse orgogliosa. Aveva i peli perfino sotto le ascelle e sulle gambe… zone che una donna depila normalmente, soprattutto per andare al mare!

“Non sono riuscita a smettere di pensare a lei. Ho capito che io mi depilavo, ogni volta che i peli ricrescevano, perché mi avevano insegnato a farlo. Perché le donne devono depilarsi. La cosa mi frustava”, ha raccontato la ragazza.

Perché le donne devono depilarsi? Perché non accettare la natura? Chi ha deciso così? Macey ha deciso che ciò non doveva per forza essere giusto e ha detto stop a cerette e rasoi. Oggi si sente bene e mostra con orgoglio i suoi peli!

When I would shave my legs, I cannot even recall having the desire to hug myself so intimately. Nor can I remember actually caring to hug myself in this way. But this is where I have found the magic in my own body hair..it is more than just that. It is energy. Not a lot of people go as far as to even feeling a form of gratitude for their body hair because we are told it should be despised. Soooo little do we appreciate all that our body hair does for us/was made to do! I could not give two sh!!ts whether you care about me talking about my hair! I am not asking for the unwilling simple mind to understand. I am not asking for the validation. I am not asking anything of you. I’m reaching out to all my beloved humans who feel unsafe in a world trying to be everything BUT themselves. I am here for those beings, and if you are one of them..I truly hope you see this and I hope that I can remind you that it’s safe to love yourself in such a way. Regardless of whether you shave or not..YOU ARE SAFE TO LOVE YOURSELF IN SUCH A WAY that it literally shakes the world around you! Go on, give yourself a hug. You deserve it. You deserve to feel motivated by your OWN strength, your own beauty. You’re f*cking divine #reclaimingmybodyhair EDIT: My intentions are to show people it’s safe and okay to love themselves exactly as they are and as much as they are comfortable with. My intention is not to pressure or try to get the entire world to stop shaving. I am aware, we all have our own preferences with our body hair!

Le sue foto sono costantemente oggetto di critiche e di insulti, ma questo non le importa. Lei continua a credere che ognuno debba accettarsi. La natura ha dato i peli anche alle donne. Il fatto che debbano depilarsi per forza, per essere belle, chi lo ha deciso? Perché deve essere un obbligo?

Oggi la sua storia si è diffusa in ogni parte del mondo. Macey spera di lasciare una lezione a tutte quelle donne che soffrono per i troppi peli.
